Power is supplied to the facility by the adjacent state power utility on unit cost basis from power station adjacent to smelter site. Gulf has already signed contracts to facilitate the use of power for the Smelting Hub.
The facility is located approximately 5km from Tenau Port, Timor’s largest port, which has both bulk and container loading facilities for easy access to key Asian markets including Japan, Korea and China.
Gulf is considering the option of building its own shipping berth to further reduce logistics costs.
Kupang has an international airport, servicing around 70 planes per day. It has a local population of over 400,000, excellent hotel and shopping facilities, four hospitals and four universities and polytechnic colleges.
